Those Pesky Voices…

For a while now, the wanderlust has been rumbling in the background. It’s starting to get a little too loud now…

The grass is always greener, I am more aware of that after living in Canada for a few years, but, the world is too large and interesting a place to hang around for too long.

So, various lines have been cast, now we wait to see which destination bites first….

Speaking of which, the sea. I’m still waiting for my first catch. This fishing is a little more frustrating than I gave it credit for. Good job I’m not relying on it for survival….

The weather here is still good. I’d hardly call it a heatwave, as we would be led to believe. It’s warm, or hot yes, but a heatwave? Right…. it’s the summer, isn’t this what it does in the summer? I remember many a lazy summer on the beach shrimping with friends every day after school, cooking them in a kettle in various beach huts and devouring them with Coke and crisps. Meaning, a warm June/July… how quickly we forget….

On The Road Again…

His Lordship is mobile once more…

I BoomBikehad to give in trying to get my old bike going for now, time ran out, but thanks to my lad, who tracked this one down, I took the plunge. Virtually same bike as my original one, this is a year older, so I’ll hopefully be able to use bits from it if necessary.

Summer 2013 looks like it’s going to be spent out and about as much as possible. It’ll just be good to go out without umpteen layers on. I look the Michelin Man…

A Change Was Needed….

Having been in a bit of a rut, unsure of what to do next, decisions have been made and we’re off on a bit of an adventure….

”It takes a lot of courage to release the familiar and seemingly secure, to embrace the new. But there is no real security in what is no longer meaningful. There is more security in the adventurous and exciting, for in movement there is life, and in change there is power.” Alan Cohen

Faced with 2 options, neither of which we were keen to go ahead with, the 3rd “definitely right” plan, failed to present itself. So until it does, what better than an “extended holiday”….

Breaking the cardinal rule of “never go back”, we’re heading to the UK for a bit, visit family and friends not seen for too many years whilst we have a bit of a rethink as to our next destination. It should be interesting, as those same family members not seen for 6 years, are being descended upon, unaware of our plans, which we kept “shtoom” until now.

So, for now, we bid farewell to the Okanagan as the snow on the tops of the mountains, seen from the windows, hint at the return of winter. Although warnings of imminent –20Deg in the UK mean we ought to pack the big coats and snowboot cleats.

All changes are more or less tinged with melancholy, for what we are leaving behind is part of ourselves.” Amelia Barr

Whilst there, in the pipeline are football camps, stage schools, recording sessions and live gigs. So, for now, stay tuned. There’s a change a’coming…..

Full-body scanners are waste of money, Israeli expert says….

Genius….

Thanks for asking if we wanted them, government of Canada and thanks for doing the homework on them before you forked out the cash, OUR cash. Let’s hope someone kept the receipt….

Full-body scanners are waste of money, Israeli expert says

A leading Israeli airport security expert says the Canadian government has wasted millions of dollars to install “useless” imaging machines at airports across the country.

“I don’t know why everybody is running to buy these expensive and useless machines. I can overcome the body scanners with enough explosives to bring down a Boeing 747,” Rafi Sela told parliamentarians probing the state of aviation safety in Canada.

That’s why we haven’t put them in our airport,” Sela said, referring to Tel Aviv’s Ben Gurion International Airport, which has some of the toughest security in the world.

December Sunset…

Caught the sun going down…

December Sunset....

…. bit like the temperature. We’re expecting -20’odd any day now. No snow though, which is odd for December in Canada… we now need the temperature to go up a bit now, for the snow.
